COVID-19 policy

If you choose to attend counselling for face to face sessions, the following policy will apply to maintain your safety at the time of your appointments:

  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (see here for information about symptoms: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/) or have been asked to self-isolate, then you must not attend your face to face appointment. Please notify me prior to your appointment and you will be offered an online or telephone appointment instead, or the opportunity to reschedule if needed.

  • The therapy room and surfaces will be cleaned in between each client using anti-bacterial wipes.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available for clients to use on entering and leaving the building.

  • All clients will be expected to follow the latest national government social distancing guidance.

  • All clients will be expected to follow the latest national government policy on mask wearing.

  • Maintaining airflow will be attended to. The therapy space has scope for windows to be open to ventilate the room where appropriate and confidentiality can be maintained.

  • If creative materials are used, then appropriate cleaning of resources will take place after each client.

  • If you have a pre-existing health condition or other factor that makes you more vulnerable to COVID-19, please let me know so we can discuss the risks of face to face counselling and of travelling to and from your therapy sessions.

  • If you live with someone who is particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 due to their age, pregnancy or an underlying health condition, please let me know so we can assess the risks of face to face counselling.

  • In the event I develop COVID symptoms or test positive for COVID, I will inform you and will follow national government guidance. Sessions will be offered remotely (via Zoom or telephone) instead of face to face, as long as I am well enough to proceed.

  • Most importantly, I will seek to ensure COVID-19 has as little impact on your therapy as possible. I will work flexibly with you to meet your needs and to keep you safe.
